# Service map

Your services and their dependencies, derived from trace data rather than declared by hand.

## What it is built from

Edges come from spans that cross a service boundary, so the map reflects what actually happened in the selected window, not an architecture diagram someone drew. A service that received no traffic in that window does not appear.

## Reading it

- An unexpected edge usually means a call path nobody remembered.
- A missing edge usually means missing context propagation, not a missing call.
- Error-heavy edges point at the boundary to investigate first.
