# Project settings

Project identity, keys, environments, data retention and deletion.

## Keys

The project key identifies this project to the SDKs. Client-side SDKs use the public identifier; build-time and server-to-server calls use the secret form. The secret half must never be shipped in an app binary or browser bundle.

Mobile apps use a separate credential pair (`projectId` plus `appSecret`) that signs short-lived tokens on device. See [Mobile](/mobile).

Rotating a key stops any client still using the old one from reporting. Roll it out to your builds before you rotate.

## Environments

Environments come from the events themselves. Listing them here is what lets you filter issues and scope alert rules to production.

## Deleting a project

Deletion removes the project and everything attached to it: issues, occurrences, logs, traces, uploaded symbols and stored artifacts. It is not reversible and it is not a way to reduce noise. Ignore issues instead.
