# Logs

Structured application logs, searchable historically and streamable live. Logs sit alongside errors so you can read what happened just before a failure.

## Live vs search

- **Live** tails logs as they arrive, which is useful while reproducing a problem or watching a deploy.
- **Search** queries what is already stored, filtered by level, service, environment and time range.

## Sending logs

The SDK logger adapters forward your existing logging calls, so you usually do not write BugWatch-specific logging code. The per-logger pages under [Install an SDK](/install-an-sdk) cover Pino, Winston, Bunyan, log4js, Monolog and PSR-3.

Logs can also be sent directly over OTLP:

```http
POST https://api.newinstance.cloud/v1/logs
Authorization: Bearer <project key>
Content-Type: application/json
```

## Correlating with errors

Logs carrying a trace id link to the trace that produced them, which is the fastest route from "this request failed" to the exact span that was slow or threw.
